Membership Development Manager

The Membership Development Manager supports the development team in attracting vibrant and diverse members to the Club community by forming new relationships across many different DC communities.


This job is onsite and requires the ability to work some evenings or weekends as needed to support acquisition activities around the DC area.

The Ned and Ned’s Club are a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time.

Seven years after launching The Ned London in 2017, we are proud to be opening a Ned’s Club in the US capital, our fourth and newest location. Ned’s Club Washington is our first Club only property, with access exclusive to our global members.


The property…

Ned’s Club Washington DC is a members’ club set over three floors of a neoclassical style building situated within President’s Park at 734 15th Street NW.


The Riggs Building sits opposite the US Treasury and was constructed in 1930. The 12-store building is located around the corner from the White House and sits above the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, formerly the historic Riggs Bank Corcoran branch.


The Club has a Rooftop Terrace and Loft Restaurant with views overlooking the White House, US Treasury and Washington Monument, plus a Founder’s Dining Room, The Library, Drawing Room, Gallery and Conservatory. On level nine, there is a self-contained floor of private event spaces.


Reporting to the Head of Membership you will:

  • Support the Development team in meeting annual membership acquisition goals.
  • Manage the acquisition pipeline by being potential members’ first point of contact. This includes educating them on membership process and benefits, scheduling and conducting tours, and providing feedback on potential members.
  • Leverage your relationship building skills and sales techniques to generate prospective members through proactive outreach and networking, designing and running acquisition events and offsite activations.
  • Provide weekly data insights and forecasting to your team and key stakeholders, updating them on acquisition performance, upcoming activity and recommendations for future strategy.
  • When needed, assist with the membership onboarding process, personally welcoming and familiarizing new members with Club facilities and culture.
  • Support Head of Membership Development in conducting market research to identify trends and opportunities in the luxury membership sector in the Washington, DC region.
  • Support administration of the Membership Committee.
  • Support member communications under the direction of the Head of Membership Development.
  • Build and nurture partnerships and collaborations with local businesses, organizations and influencers to enhance member value and foster community connections.
  • Represent Ned’s Club at industry events, conferences and networking opportunities to promote membership growth.
  • Establish and maintain positive teamwork to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, building a great place to work.
  • Must be able to travel for work, for farther destinations travel by plane is required.


What you can bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred plus a minimum of 2 years of experience in membership/business development, community engagement or member organizations preferred.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills honed in the DC area, which help you generate new membership and build member loyalty and retention at Ned’s Club.
  • Impeccable writing, communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM systems preferred.
  • Passion for building community and creating memorable experiences for members.
  • A commercial mindset, always with your finger on the pulse of market trends and using data to evaluate performance and inform strategy.
  • Strategic and results driven, with an analytical mindset to deliver the tracking and reporting required.
  • Proactive and responsive approach, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively.
