Job Purpose:
As a Commis 1 in the Bakery, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and production of high-quality baked goods for our luxury hotel. This includes bread, pastries, cakes, and other bakery items. You will work closely with the Head Baker and Pastry Chef to ensure consistency and excellence in every item produced.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and production of a wide variety of baked goods including bread, pastries, cakes, and other baked items.
- Ensure that all products are prepared to the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Assist in inventory management and ensure stock is always fresh and of high quality.
- Help with setting up and breaking down bakery equipment.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily production goals and deadlines.
- Contribute to the development of new and creative baked goods, ensuring they align with the hotel’s luxury standards.
- Provide excellent attention to detail and maintain consistency in all bakery offerings.
- Continuously improve culinary skills and learn from experienced team members.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in a luxury hotel or fine dining establishment.
- Knowledge of baking techniques and the ability to work with a variety of ingredients.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for producing high-quality baked goods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Culinary qualifications or formal training in baking and pastry arts preferred.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
