Located in the former Ministry of Interior building, The Ned Doha offers seven restaurants, 90 bedrooms, event venues, and Ned’s Club, a private members’ club that gives access to spaces including a rooftop terrace, a health club with spa, gym and 30m outdoor pool.

Job Purpose:

As the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the property. You will lead the engineering team in ensuring that all hotel facilities are maintained to the highest standards while supporting sustainability goals and ensuring guest satisfaction through efficient and responsive technical support.

Responsibilities:

Ensure the effective operation of all mechanical and electrical systems by managing a robust preventive maintenance program.
Record and log all meter readings daily and report irregularities.
Regularly inspect plant rooms, guest areas, and public spaces to identify issues and coordinate with contractors when necessary.
Ensure hotel water systems are properly treated and compliant with health and safety standards.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and documentation.
Ensure financial efficiency by managing maintenance budgets, capital works programs, and engineering planning.
Familiarity with energy consumption calculations and implementing strategies for energy savings and sustainability.
Oversee building infrastructure and the maintenance of hotel grounds and external facilities.
Contribute to guest satisfaction by providing timely and efficient technical support and maintenance services.
Build and lead a technically competent engineering team through selection, training, and professional development.
Order daily maintenance materials and tools in line with procurement policies.
Ensure departmental training plans are implemented effectively.
Attend seminars and training courses as needed to stay up to date with industry practices and technologies.

Qualifications & Competencies:

Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, facilities management, or a related field.
Extensive experience in hotel engineering operations, preferably in a luxury or high-end property.
Proven experience managing technical teams and preventive maintenance programs.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and water treatment systems.
Understanding of building management systems (BMS), energy management, and sustainability initiatives.
Sound financial acumen and experience in managing engineering budgets and capital projects.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach to team development and operations.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
