Job Purpose:
We are seeking a talented and passionate individual to join our culinary team as a Commis in the Pastry Department. In this role, you will work under the guidance of our experienced pastry chefs, assisting in the preparation and production of high-quality pastry items. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong culinary background and a desire to grow within a dynamic kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and production of various pastries and desserts according to recipes and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
- Follow instructions from senior pastry staff to ensure efficient production and service.
- Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation and ordering supplies as needed.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- A culinary degree or certification from an accredited institution is a plus.
- Basic understanding of food safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to assist in the preparation and cooking of pastries, following standardized recipes and instructions.
- Execute basic baking techniques with precision and consistency, including but not limited to mixing, measuring, and decorating.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to stringent sanitation standards.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure a smooth workflow during service.
- Adhere to portion control guidelines and presentation specifications set by senior pastry staff.
- Uphold high standards of food quality, freshness, and taste.
